General Information We Collect and How We Use It 

 

We collect User Information when you use our Site. Sometimes you may submit it to us yourself, other times it may be collected automatically. Our handling of your User Information is generally limited to product registration, electronic newsletter registration, addressing warranty-related issues, shipping products to end-users, outlet order processing, sponsoring and hosting giveaways, facilitating rebates, and handling and resolving general inquiries. You are not required to provide AUDIO-TECHNICA the personal data that we request, but if you choose not to do so, we may not be able to provide you with our services, or with a high quality of service or respond to any inquiries you may have.

 

Information Collected When You Use Our Site

 

Your User Information may be collected, used, and shared. As detailed below, the type of User Information collected may vary based on how it was gathered, but may include, among other things, your name, email address, physical address, company or organization information, phone number and other information that you voluntarily submit (e.g., when you submit information via the Contact link or submit an order on the Site), information automatically collected about your usage of our Site that does not include personally identifiable information (e.g., the content that you choose to view and how you interact), and information about you that third parties may share with us if such third parties have previously received your consent to do so. Moreover, we automatically collect certain information when you visit, use or navigate the Site. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Site, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

 

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Policy.

 

AUDIO-TECHNICA does not collect or process any data on the Site regarding the following: race or ethnic origin; political opinions; religious or philosophical beliefs; trade union memberships; genetic or biometric data; health or mortality; or sexual orientation.

 

We collect several categories of information from and about users of our Site, including:

 

    • Identity and Contact Information – We collect or use this information, including your first and last name, email address, social media handle, shipping address, billing address, phone number, position/job title, and if applicable, a recipient’s first and last name.

    • Application Information – If you submit an application for employment through our Sites, we may collect your first, middle, and last name, home address, email address, telephone number, information about your relationship with AUDIO-TECHNICA, education information, employment history information, job-related skills and qualifications, and personal/professional reference information.

AUDIO-TECHNICA may collect User Information that is voluntarily provided by you or with your permission. For example, we may ask you for information, such as your name, address, phone number, company or organization information, and e-mail address when you contact us via the ‘Contact’ link on the Site, or when you submit an order through the Site All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information. You always have the option not to provide the information we request. If you choose not to provide the information we request, you can still visit the Site, but you may be required to provide your information by other means if we need such information to provide our services to you.

 

Our Third-Party Vendors

We may collect payment data. However, such information is processed by our third-party vendors, Stripe Inc. (“Stripe”) and PayPal Holdings, Inc. (“PayPal”) through online payment programs. Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS)

We follow the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) when handling credit card data. AUDIO-TECHNICA currently accepts VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit cards as authorized payment methods for our services. All payment transactions are processed by either of our third-party payment processors, Stripe or PayPal, through their online payment programs, in adherence to PCI-DSS, and other applicable standards. AUDIO-TECHNICA at its sole election may discontinue support for any payment method or it may support additional payment methods (i.e., Apple Pay, Google Wallet or Amazon Payments).

 

Web Beacons

 

Our web pages may contain electronic images known as web beacons (invisible images often referred to as pixel tags or clear GIFs) on the Site in order to recognize users, assess traffic patterns, identify preferred content, and measure Site engagement. We may also include web beacons in our e-mail messages in order to count how many e-mail messages have been opened, for example.

 

Some of these web beacons may also be placed by third-party service providers to help determine the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. These web beacons may be used by third-party service providers to place a persistent cookie on your computer. Moreover, we collect records of products or services purchased, obtained, or considered or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies for statistical purposes and to enable us to market more effectively to you. Additionally, your User Information may be used to present the Sites and their contents to you, request feedback, evaluate or conduct a sale or transfer of some or all of our assets, and for any other purpose with your consent.

 

To Provide Communications to You

 

From time to time, we may provide e-mails highlighting new features, promotions, or content on the Site to those users who have expressly provided us with their permission to send such communications. For instance, if you have opted to receive our e-news, surveys, or other marketing information, including information related to giveaways, we may use this information to contact you for these purposes.

AUDIO-TECHNICA takes the security of your User Information very seriously. Your information may be stored on servers owned and operated by AUDIO-TECHNICA and its affiliates or by cloud/software service providers (“SaaS Services”) and located in the United States, or in the United Kingdom in certain instances involving non-PII or with our third-party provider Aware Digital. Our SaaS Services are committed to using industry-standard physical, electronic, and organizational safeguards to protect information against loss or theft as well as unauthorized access and disclosure to protect individuals’ privacy and to employing security techniques to protect such data from unauthorized access. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, to maintain data accuracy, and to allow only the appropriate use of your User Information, we utilize industry standard physical, technical, and administrative controls and procedures to safeguard the information we collect. To help ensure the integrity and privacy of the User Information that you provide to us, we encrypt that information using secure socket layering (“SSL”). We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the User Information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.

The safety and security of your information also depend on you. CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT (“COPPA”) NOTIFICATION

 

Our Site is not designed for persons under the age of thirteen (“13”). We are not responsible for any access or use of the Site by children or minors under the age of 13. No one under age 13 may provide any personal information to or on our Site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.  AUDIO-TECHNICA does not actively target or market to any EU member state and does not, to its knowledge, process or control any EU citizen personally identifiable information. As this time, AUDIO-TECHNICA does not ship or sell its products to any location out of the United States. Despite this fact, this Privacy Policy and its enumerated policies are intended to comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (the “General Data Protection Regulation” or “GDPR”) and provide appropriate protection and care with respect to the treatment of information from all of our visitors and users in accordance with the GDPR.

We endeavor to substantively respond to verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to another 45 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing.

 

If you have an account with us, we will deliver our written response to that account. If you do not have an account with us, we will deliver our written response by mail or electronically, at your option.

 

The response we provide will explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your personal information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance.

 

We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a request related to your personal information. You may also make a request on behalf of your child. You may only submit a request to know twice within a 12-month period. Your request must:

California Shine The Light Law

 

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information.
